As members of the K-State College of Agriculture, the Popenoe Entomology Club is proud to support the education of Kansas Future Farmers of America (FFA) students.
The annual Entomology FFA Career Development Exam (CDE) is hosted by the K-State Department of Entomology. For any questions, please reach out to the State Coordinator for the Entomology FFA CDE at insectsandyou@ksu.edu.

FFA Insect Kits
Our club members collect common insect species found around Kansas and curate collections containing about 86 specimens. These specimens are pinned or placed into vials, labeled with numbers, and shipped to interested chapters.
We are a student-run club. Kit availability and shipping timelines depend on our schedules and inventory. We kindly ask that customers be patient as we process orders.
Full Kit (86 specimens) $200
Discounts for missing specimens:
Pinned specimens: $0.50/each
Vial specimens: $1.00/each
Replacement Insect Specimen(s) $2.00/each

NOTE: Orders requesting more than 2 kits will be charged an additional $5/kit to cover shipping costs. If desired, customers are permitted to pick up orders to avoid shipping charges or for convenience

We charge $200 for a complete kit, with discounts for missing specimens (as determined by our inventory). Our kits usually contain 70+ specimens. Small or delicate specimens are shipped in vials with alcohol, and large specimens are pinned.

Use the form below or email us at popenoe@ksu.edu. We are students and will respond to your request when able. You can submit a tax exempt form to us at this time as well.

Our members work hard to get these kits constructed and shipped in a timely manner. However, we may delay shipments if we are lacking needed specimens. Vials contain 70% ethyl alcohol and we are required to overnight these. Vials may be shipped separately to reduce our club’s shipping costs.

We plan to offer “kit updates” and replacement specimens. We are currently building up our inventory to make this as smooth as possible.
