C.V. Riley Restoration Committee Update: A Colorful Affair

The C.V. Riley Restoration Committee has been active since last fall’s initiative launched with students viewing the prints (see the story here) and getting in contact with a conservator to assess the state of each print. Of the 69 prints, about 16 were in need of mending and special preservation.

In spring 2022, the committee launched a K-State Foundation Account (here) to directly receive donations towards a $10,000 fundraising goal. With the funds, the club will hire a conservator and make repairs on the most delicate prints. Donations through the K-State Foundation and are anonymous and tax deductible.

Featured for the first time, the Popenoe Entomology Club is launching a coloring book in support of the C.V. Riley Restoration Project. Works from C.V. Riley are intertwined with 15 selected original drawings from K-State Entomology Departmental Students and Faculty. Twenty percent of each coloring book sale will benefit the restoration fund.

Thanks to early donors, the club has raised $1,500 towards our goal of $10,000. We are almost a caterpillar! Thank you to supporters for helping us break out of our fundraising chorion!
